Chillum

Thursday, October 30th, 2003

I have way too much time on my hands obviously, and in my infinite wisdom (or severe lack thereof), I have decided it would be a fabulous idea to shift the entire Chillum website into the vilesilencer format. Don’t ask me why, I must be bored and because it’s so damn easy now I just feel like adding and adding until this thing bursts. Lots of band action pics to look at (they aren’t digital and they aren’t taken by me so don’t complain about them) and tracks to download. If you do choose to download, the tracks are not sitting on vilesilencer’s host server, because they don’t allow .exe files, so you will be taken to the server on which they sit. The tracks are in mp3 format and are stored as a self-extracting zip file. So how do you get your bands music on an mp3 on the web? send me an email and I’ll tell you, it’s not that complicated really but it helps if you have someone to record the music and mix it in the first place ;) the rest is easy. Anythine else happening? Nope. I still wanna be overseas travelling around and having a good time. Who’s gonna buy me an air ticket? If you can’t afford to put me on the plane then buy me a beer. It’s YOUR shout :P

Meccano Aficionado

Sunday, October 26th, 2003

It’s a shitload of Eiffel. 13 Shots of/from the Parisian Meccano Structure for show and tell. If you don’t like tall bits of fashioned metal, or what you can see from them, then this lot of photos isn’t for you. Take a wide berth.

If, however, you are a Meccano Aficionado like myself then unbluckle the pants and get ready for a dakcreaming joyride! For the first time, I have taken 2 of the raw shots and altered them for a more artistic appearance. All the other photos are 100% raw, except for the copyright which is added post-shooting. But wait, don’t zip-up just yet, because I’ve also knocked over the other sites of Paris and they are going up soonskies. Oh yeah, a mate pointed out that I had put 21th instead of 21st for the post below. Given that he washes his clothes in a bidet (see ROME photos), Im not so sure I should change it. I’d hate to have to agree I’ve made a mistake dating the post the 21th of Oct, and then find out I’ve also been wrongly washing my clothes in a washing machine all these years…

Coffee and Clubber

Saturday, October 18th, 2003

It’s 1.55am Sat morning, and I’m sipping on a coffee whilst I’m glued to the idiot box watching Apollo race Rocky across the beach, in the classic Rocky III (1982), on free-to-air tv. You know the one where Clubber Lang aka Mr T beats the stuffing out of Sly who then enlists the help of Apollo Creed aka Carl Weathers to take his game to another level. He teaches him how to “Dance like a butterfly, sting like a bee” Real awe-inspiring stuff. Before that, Oliver Stone’s oscar-winning epic Platoon (1986) was on, and before that I watched NZ thrash Canada in the rugby world cup. During all of that, between wiping the emotional tears away and doing one-arm push-ups to Eye of the Tiger, I managed to knock over the Florence photos. I took a hundred, and knocked it down to 21. I “Pity the fool” who doesn’t enjoy those shots!!!

When In Rome (Part 1)

Wednesday, October 15th, 2003

I’ve sifted through the first batch of Roman photos, some good, some garbage, nothing really great. The second batch of these are some of the better pics I have taken (or is that Florence???), lots more architecture and scenery. Anyways enjoy these ones for now there’s tonnes more to come, I’ll continue to plug along one section at a time until they are all up, then expand on them all as I come across a few other little gems. I’ve put a few people in this lot as the first photos i took of people turned out shocking, whilst I was getting used to the camera at night. So why did i crank out this update so quickly? I’m waiting for my brother to return from the bottle-o with my $6.50 4-pack of 440ml Longhorn bourbon & cola pre-mixed cans, and since I haven’t had my fix I’m a little edgy so this has helped pass the time hehehe.

The Designer Is Back & Busy

Monday, October 13th, 2003

Doods, the designer is back. I’ve broken the shackles and cranked out some code to allow this site to maintain itself (and my rage). I’m nailing through the photos now, and have just put the Austrian ones up. These are some of the better shots taken with the camera so dont miss them. I’ve been working on a geeky article, and a few other ideas for the site, so stay tuned.. lots more content in the pipeline and on the way. On the crusier side of things I had an impromptu acoustic jam session in a warehouse with my brother and a mate last week, and man did that rock. It’s been a while (probably 12 months) since i’ve picked up the bass, and it was great to give my new acoustic one a bit of a run, with a lovely echo from the empty building. If I get another chance to record more tunes, I reckon abandon warehouse might be the place to do it. I also went on a dakcreaming camping trip during the week with a couple of photography geeks to Hill End, an historic gold mining town near Bathurst, just out of Sydney. We went with the expectation of getting some really good shots but I think we all got pretty average ones, despite the abundance of wild animals (roos and goats mainly, and a lot of wild turkey :P) roaming around the camping grounds.

Anything else? Yer ok,

Bathurst 1k: Skaife was robbed, Bowe needs to learn how to drive his shitty Ford;

Rugby World Cup: Aussies beat Argentina but it wasn’t convincing, NZ are a shoe in if they continue to play like that;

Matty Hayden’s 380: what a fucken championship effort that is. It’s been a while since we scored 700+ and Zimbabwe just got a cricket lesson.
