New York: Central Park

New York: Central Park Fountain

Rummaged through the photos and found a tonne of New York, in particular the Central Park ones, which were easy to cull. There was a nice selection of shots, and very few dodgy ones, so included is the majority of shots taken inside the park. You don’t realise how large it actually is until you are wandering around inside. Theres a huge number of people exercising too, from rollerbladers to cyclists and joggers. A lot of the pics were taken in little alcoves off remote tracks from the park.

I’m working on an about section for the man behind the gun behind the website - Yeah that’s me. Might take time, because I really don’t know much about myself when I’m hungover like I am.

I’m keeping my judgement reserved on the David Hookes incident. From mind, bouncers dont just throw punches, so I think there is more than meets the eye here. Still on cricket I really enjoyed the Brett Lee 6 to all but win the match last night too, it rocked! Can’t let those damn curries beat us again. Especially after Dravid’s ball-tampering lolly debacle hahaha, like hows that going to improve the ball??? Have a good long weekend.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) And Other Webmaster Resources

Sunday, January 18th, 2004

Finished the webmasters resources page for the time being. There are a lot of useful techniques, tips and advice plus links to other resources contained on the page. The resource is a general one, in that I don’t target advice for specific types of pages. It’s also free. None of the techniques requires that you spend any money, and in that sense it can be seen as invaluable. Though I have included links to sites that will provide people with techniques that you can pay for.

Lastly, I’ve done something that most webmasters would be reluctant to do, and that’s release a vault of information that has come to my attention over the past couple of years whilst working on websites. Much of the techniques and advice is gold, as are some of the links. Your part of the bargain is to use the tools in the spirit in which they were intended, to improve your sites pages. I’ve located another handful of free-to-submit to smaller search engines, and will add these to the search engine resources page once I have enough to create a second list. enjoy :)

This Is The End… Of Redline

redline

First the website; now the email address. Redline is officially dead-man-buried as far as vilesilencer is concerned. To that end I’ve replaced the email link with a contact form on the site, so that the contructive criticism can continue. I appreciate all feedback, and seriously ponder on content suggestions that I receive via mail.

The Search Engine Resources page, and soon to come webmaster resources, both came about through consistent questions over the last 12 months regarding search engine optimisation of websites. So if you want questions answered or just want to see more Wicked Weasel style pics and links let me know.

KFC

Ahhh Junk food. This is the year the addiction gets beaten. I’m under a self-imposed ban for as long as I can hold out for not to take part in the evils of Rotten Ronnies, KF, Hungrys, BK, Heave Hut et al. It’s going to be hard considering a couple of my best mates live a stones throw (literally - see pic taken from their backyard) from a KF. I’ll keep you posted and we can beat the bulge together.

Arrived back tonight from another attack at the Bridle track. Once again conditions were superb and the scenery surreal. I don’t think I will ever tire of cruising through the Aussie countryside in a 4WD in perfect sunshine whilst amazing visuals pass by. Serenity Now! For 4wd enthusiasts and photography aficionado’s visit shintara for an excellent 4wd appraisal of the track and the photographic opportunities it presents.

We had a rather daunting dilemma on the road back from Mudgee. A kangaroo had been hit by a car, its back leg and possibly spine shattered by the impact, was lying half in our lane and half off the road and as we approached we noticed it was still alive and rather distressed. Other Aussies would probably say Who cares? The animal is a pest, and hundreds/thousands die everyday through intentional culling and on the road. Ok and to that point I agree. BUT, when a helpless injured animal looks at you and you can see the serious distress it is in, your conscience kicks in in and you want to do something. We agreed that had we had a gun (rifles would be fairly common in that area) then we could have put it out of its misery. That option wasn’t available to us, and neither of us was going to be able to run it over in the car. Since helping an injured roo off the road isn’t a viable option, they are wild animals, and handling a distressed one is likely to get you a Roo toe through the guts, we had to drive past and leave the animal to the luck of the gods. It’s amazing the impulses that flood ones brain in the matter of seconds of time that passed between seeing the animal, summing up the situation, and deciding the only possibly course of action. Tell me that 1000 people got killed in a bombing, and it mightn’t even register in my system, but put that helpless/distressed look in front of me again (one person/animal), and I’ll still be thinking about it days later…

On a lighter note the Edinburgh pics are now up and doing. If you need any extra incentive, there are shots of girls kissing, what more can I do to sell it??? I think that concludes all the UK pics. So only the USA to come now.

G5 Set Up

Welcome to 2004. I’m going to start the rapid updates again, I’m out of the slump and the ideas are beginning to flow more fluently. Thought I’d get the G5 set-up out of the way first. I promised pics, so here they are. Don’t ask me about the tartan backboard, I’m still not sure why that is there. That’s a professional set-up though. Since most of us peasants couldn’t afford that kind of hardware, it strengthens my point about debating Mac vs PC, as being apple vs oranges (or lemons as some have suggested).

Ive put up a second series of Hill End pics and that notorious bridle track. I’m nearly done on Edinburgh so those shots should be up next time too.

I’m still working on the webmasters resources section, it’s taking a bit more time than I expected as I’ve come across some other search engine optimisation techniques and resources and want to give them the explanation and space they deserve. So it might take a while before I add that. :)
